Ras Al Khaimah, the northernmost emirate of the United Arab Emirates, is famed for its Arabian Gulf beaches. The capital city, also called Ras Al Khaimah, houses the National Museum of Ras Al Khaimah in a centuries-old fort, showcasing regional history and archaeological exhibits. Close by is the large, traditional Mohammed bin Salem Mosque. To the northeast, the mountaintop Dhayah Fort, dating back to the 19th century, is a notable landmark.
